MIEUX CONNAITRE LES CELLULES RESPONSABLES DES MÉTASTASES
Malgré leur importance dans le processus métastatique les cellules tumorales circulantes (CTC) demeurent très peu caractérisées principalement à cause de leur très faible nombre. L’équipe de Julie Pannequin a, pour la première fois, établi des cultures de CTC à partir d’échantillons sanguins de patients porteurs de cancer du côlon. L’établissement de ces lignées a participé à la caractérisation fonctionnelle des CTC afin d’espérer un jour pouvoir potentiellement les cibler. Ce travail vient d’être publié dans le journal Gut (Grillet F, et al. Gut. 2016 Jul 25. pii: gutjnl-2016-311447).
A BETTER KNOWLEDGE ON CELLS RESPONSIBLE OF METASTASIS
Despite their obvious involvement in the metastatic process, circulating tumor cells (CTC) remain poorly described mainly because of their scarcity. Julie Pannequin’s team has established for the first time CTC cultures from blood samples of patients with colorectal cancer. Establishment of these cell lines has participated to the functional characterization of CTCs in the aim of hopefully one day specifically targeting them.
