Fragile X Syndrome

in Emmanuel VALJENT team (Neural circuits and signal transduction) will combine powerful mouse transgenic lines, molecular biology and rodent behavioral tasks to identify key proteins in neurons that play a crucial role in the memory deficits produced by exposure to cannabinoids, including delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the main psychoactive compound of marijuana.
The elucidation of the mechanisms involved might provide a better understanding of other neurological diseases, including Fragile X syndrome.
