Implication of metabotropic glutamate receptor in Parkinson disease

- Scientific collaboration with Dr. F. Acher (CNRS, University Descartes, Paris, France), and Dr. M. Amalric (CNRS, Marseille, France)

Metabotropic glutamate receptors are expressed in the nucleus of the different basal ganglions involved in movement controls. The degeneration of dopaminergic neurons has serious consequences on the functionning of these nuclei and is at the origin of Parkinson disease. We are using the new pharmacological tools that we have developped on different animal models in order to characterize the role of mGluRs in this pathology (Sibille et al., J Med Chem 2007).
